Memorial Day 2020

Green Ridge Cemetery hosts a fine Memorial Day service, but the annual honorary event was cancelled in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the weather beckoned and a handful of souls wandered the solemn grounds and marked the holiday in personal terms.
A family finds cover from a brief rain shower on the steps of the Winged Victory statue that honors Kenosha’s Civil War veterans. The towering monument is in Library Park where the Kenosha Area Vietnam Veterans held a brief Memorial Day ceremony is an abundance of space.
Taps is played at the conclusion of the Kenosha Area Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial Day ceremony in Library Park. These grounds are rich in honoring Kenosha’s veterans. The Winged Victory monument stands in recognition of Kenosha’s Civil War soldiers and the Simmons Library honors the city’s veterans who served in World War I. Both structures were designed by famed Chicago architect Daniel Burnham just before 1900.
